UK regulator Ofcom has made various statutory instruments in preparation for the award of 700 MHz and 3.6-3.8 GHz spectrum. It plans to auction airwaves in these two bands in 2020.
Following consultation earlier in 2019, Ofcom has made the following statutory instruments – the Wireless Telegraphy (Limitation of Number of Licences) Order 2019; the Wireless Telegraph (Spectrum Trading) (Amendment) Regulations 2019; the Wireless Telegraphy (Mobile Spectrum Trading) (Amendment) Regulations 2019; and the Wireless Telegraphy (Register) (Amendment) Regulations 2019.
Ofcom plans to make the Wireless Telegraphy (Limitation of Number of Licences) Order 2019 as soon as the regulations outlining the rules for the spectrum auction have been made. It expects to publish its final decision on auction proposals, including coverage obligations, later in summer 2019.
