T-Mobile Austria launched a standardised IoT platform for end-users called IoT Gateway, which allows customers to connect IoT devices from any manufacturer. The IoT Gateway can connect IoT devices with applications, reduce complexity and control connected IoT devices online. The first customer in the pilot phase is the chocolate manufacture Zotter. The platform helps the chocolate-maker to control temperatures throughout the manufacturing process.

The new tariff packages NB-IoT Connectivity Basic and Advanced include access to the IoT-Gateway, NB-IoT connectivity in the country-wide network of T-Mobile and up to 300 data transfers a day for all IoT devices connected with the platform. A data transfer is fro example a temperature value. The monthly subscription is EUR 0.99 plus VAT per device with a total of 100 data transfers a day and EUR 1.19 plus VAT per device with 300 data transfers a day. For 100 and 1,000 devices or more, respectively, there is a volume discount.

For a trial of the product, the operator offers the IoT Gateway Testing Package for a one-off fee of EUR 59 plus VAT, which enables customers to try the system during six months with 10 Sim cards with the full IoT Gateway functionality and the NB-IoT network of T-Mobile.

With the support of the LightweightM2M protocol, customers can start using the service in a short time. The IoT interface standard oneM2M, currently in development, will also be supported by the IoT Gateway in future.
