T-Mobile US said it will later this year introduce Viacom channels and on-demand content to its subscribers. T-Mobile US last year announced plans to launch its own online TV and video service, following its acquisition of the Layer3 platform. The introduction of the service has taken longer than expectedfor the company, but it says now that it will first start an in-home TV service, “designed to replace cable for the 5G era” and then introduce mobile TV services beginning with Viacom as a cornerstone launch partner.
Under the agreement reached with T-Mobile US, Viacom will provide its portfolio of brands, including MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, BET and Paramount, as well as a broad range of its on-demand content.
