Hong Kong’s Communications Authority (CA) has announced that qualified applicants have fulfilled the broad licensing criteria for receiving the license in the 26 GHz and 28 GHz spectrum bands. The CA has decided on the amount of spectrum in the 26 GHz and 28 GHz bands offered for assignment to each of them on a provisional basis. The provisional successful applicants are China Mobile Hong Kong, HKT, and SmarTone. The amount of spectrum offered for provisional assignment is 400 MHz for each of these three operators.
Each of these operators is now required to submit to the CA a second statutory declaration on connected company. According to the CA, this announcement is not an approval by the CA of the applications for spectrum assignment.
