Digicel is preparing to activate LTE services in Trinidad & Tobago’s after upgrading systems throughout the twin-island nation, reports local daily Trinidad Guardian. The operator has already updated equipment in Diego Martin, Carenage, Chaguaramas, Port of Spain, Maraval and St. Ann’s, having already upgraded systems in Barataria, El Soccoro, Aranguez, Couva, Freeport, Sangre Grande, Valencia Champs Fleurs and St Joseph.
By the end of this month, Piarco, Charlieville, Arima, D’Abadie, Santa Rosa, Chaguanas, Claxton Bay, Tunapuna, Trincity, Couva, Lopinot and Tobago will also be optimised, said the report. No precise launch date was given but Digicel executives said the new network would deliver speeds up to ten times faster than existing technology, while offering expanded coverage and greater reliability.
