Bidding for the blocks in the 3.6 GHz band of the German 5G auction has reached a total of EUR 3.2 billion, as the four competitors are stuck over the issue of one particular, unplaced block, according to Vitali Gretschko, Professor at the Leibniz Center for European Economic Research (ZEW), Golem.de reports.
The battle for this particular block in the 3.6 GHz band started in round 109, he said. There are 27 identical blocks, but the bidders want 28 altogether. Gretschko said the auction will be over once one of the bidders is dissatisfied with one of the blocks.
In the latest round 270, bidding reached a total of EUR 5.6 billion, with offers made by Deutsche Telekom, Telefonica, Vodafone and 1&1 Drillisch.
