Telecom Italia (TIM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with New York-based fibre-optic cables manufacturer Corning to explore new developments in the field of fibre and 5G network technologies. The partners said they intend to work closely on the evolution of infrastructure and broadband customer network platforms to better support IoT and 5G requirements as the technologies grow. In a statement, TIM added that it will also be collaborating with Corning on developing next-generation data-driven services such as the Internet of Things (IoT), smart cities and artificial intelligence (AI).
The MoU is also intended to foster greater cooperation with other technology providers and industry forums, enabling ongoing innovation and sharing of best practices, said the partners.
