Orange Poland, together with the company Pronal, is developing a network of smart meters in Jozefow, near Warsaw. Nearly 3,000 transmitters will enable remote metering of the water supply, with the accuracy of one hour, and will thus eliminate water losses due to accidents or unauthorised consumption.
The 2G network in Jozefow will allow safe and fast data transmission. The smart metering system works in hardly accessible places, such as basements or garages, where the coverage of a mobile network is limited. In some Polish cities, such as Mysłowice and Warsaw, Orange is also conducting tests of similar services based on CAT-M1 over the LTE network, which already covers 99 percent of population.
