Deutsche Telekom said it has become a strategic partner for vehicle communications tests at German vehicle inspection company Dekra’s Lausitzring, Europe’s largest independent test- and racetrack for connected driving. Telekom will equip the testbed facilities at the Lausitzring with the latest 4G and 5G infrastructure as part of its efforts to develop 5G technology for vehicle communication.
Other technologies to play a role at the test site include Edge Computing, precise positioning and the C-V2X telecommunications standard for communications between vehicles and network and road infrastructure will also come into play at the test site, said Telekom. By supplying 5G infrastructure for the Lausitzring, Telekom and Dekra said they are offering industry the perfect testing environment for new intelligent mobility services, it said. Industry will be able to use the facilities at the Lausitzring to test connected functions for intelligent traffic and smart city functions as well as enabling systems and manufacturers’ servers.
