Orange Romania started providing customers in 95 cities with download speeds of up to 500Mbps through its 4G+/LTE-A network. The new speeds are possible thanks to the development of Orange’s 4G+/LTE-A network as well as constant investments in its 4G/LTE network. Following this evolution, LTE covered areas that previously supported maximum download speeds of up to 150Mbps now provide up to 200Mbps, while 4G+/LTE-A covered areas that earlier offered download speeds of up to 375 Mbps now support download speeds of up to 500 Mbps.
Higher speeds of up to 900Mbps can also be tested in Orange’s smart shops in Bucharest, Iasi and Cluj-Napoca, as well as at the co-working space Impact Hub Bucharest via compatible terminals.
At a press event, Orange also demonstrated the potential of the 4G+/LTE-A network. The operator reached commercial speeds of up to 900Mbps using Samsung Galaxy S9 terminals and Huawei’s existing wireless network technology. Together with Nokia, the operator also demonstrated5G technology in the 3.7 Ghz band with two of the most exciting features. Among the highlights were extremely low latency, which allows industry-grade 4.0 applications to bring improvements to the industrial automation area, as well as a large amount of information and connections the future network can handle.
