German cable network operator Unitymedia has announced Cobee as the first certified eco-system partner for its LoRaWAN Internet of Things (IoT) wireless network.

Conbee has installed so-called ‘Smart Tags’ on more than 1,000 vehicles operated by a specialist supplier of bodies for commercial vehicles. These are then connected via LoRaWAN to the cloud for identification and tracking round the clock.

Unitymedia is offering free wireless infrastructure installation to the fist 50 cities and towns choosing its LoRaWAN network. It plans to add more eco-system partners to provide solutions for local authorities, municipalities and industrial partners.
