Vodafone Germany said it has started a cooperation with ICE Gateway and the city of Darmstadt to analyse data from street lights through an IoT network. The smart street lighting project aims to save energy, optimize traffic flows and avoid congestion in the city centre.

Street lights are equipped with special sensors that can detect, among other things, air quality and noise levels. The data collected is sent to a platform to be analysed through an IoT network.
