Telia said that Volvo Construction Equipment (CE) has become the first company to join its 5G partnership programme for Swedish firms that want to explore new developments and test business models. Primarily, Volvo CE will test 5G in its remote-controlled machines and automation equipment at its research and development facilities in Eskilstuna.
This a continues an existing project concerning the mining industry, the PIMM project, in which Boliden, Telia, Ericsson, Volvo CE, ABB, Wolfit, RISE SICS and LTU have all contributed cutting-edge technology and knowledge in digitisation and automation.
Recently, Telia signed an agreement with KTH Royal Institute of Technology to build a test environment for 5G at the KTH campus in Stockholm.
