Orange Business Services (OBS) announced that it has secured a contract with the Veolia group to provide LoRa-based IoT connectivity to over 3 million smart water meters in France by 2027. The operator said that it has already completed a successful 12-month trial in the city of Toulouse, and described the project as its largest LoRa deployment to date in the country. Birdz, Veolia’s smart city division (part of the Nova Veolia business), will manage the contract and will be responsible for data collection using Live Objects, the management platform provided by OBS.
