T-Mobile Poland has cooperated with telemetry supplier Abaro to provide Geotermia Podhalanska with a complete system for automatic heating meter reading using NB-IoT. Geotermia thus becomes the first heating network in Poland with smart metering with NB-IoT equipment. Under the contract, T-Mobile and Abaro will provide more than 1,500 telemetry devices and full telemetry infrastructure (NB-IoT data transmissions, servers, software, technical support and maintenance services).
The contract runs for five years and the total contract value will exceed PLN 1.4 million gross. Przedsiebiorstwo Energetyki Cieplnej Geotermia Podhalanska is the largest company in Poland producing heat from geothermal energy. It was established in 1993 to heat houses in one village, namely Banska Nizna. Currently, thermal energy is used by residents of four municipalities: Bialy Dunajec, Poronin, Szaflar and Zakopane.
The partner of T-Mobile in the implementation of the project for Geotermia, the company Abaro, is a producer of telemetry equipment and software, and specialises in M2M and IoT. The company was selected in open tests at the hub:raum, an innovation centre of Deutsche Telekom.
